Aceite Campo de Montiel is an extra-virgin olive oil produced exclusively within a defined area of the province of Ciudad Real, Spain. It is obtained from Cornicabra, Picual, Manzanilla, Arbequina and Local olive varieties by mechanical or other physical means. The specification sets a maximum acidity of 0,5°, a median defect of zero, and a minimum median fruitiness of 2,5.

Registered as a PDO on 30 January 2007 under file number PDO-ES-0590 (eAmbrosia identifier EUGI00000013901), Aceite Campo de Montiel covers extra-virgin olive oil produced, manufactured and packaged within twenty-six named municipalities of the province of Ciudad Real, including Montiel, Valdepeñas, La Solana, Villanueva de los Infantes and others listed in the specification. The permitted olive varieties are Cornicabra, Picual, Manzanilla, Arbequina and Local. Extraction must be by mechanical processes or other physical means that do not lead to deterioration of the oil. The specification requires a maximum acidity of 0,5°, a maximum peroxide value of 15, ultraviolet absorbency K270 of no more than 0,20 and K232 of no more than 2,50, total moisture and impurities not exceeding 0,1%, a median defect of zero, and a minimum median fruitiness of 2,5. Organoleptic assessment records bitterness values between 3 and 6 and spiciness values between 3,4 and 6,3. The oil must be bottled within the defined geographical area in containers of 5 litres or less made from glass, plastic, PET, metal, porcelain or ceramic. Each container must bear a seal of warranty and a numbered label or back label issued by the Asociación para la Promoción de la DOP Aceite Campo de Montiel and distributed and inspected by the inspection body so that they cannot be reused. Labels must carry the words 'Denominación de Origen Aceite Campo de Montiel'.
