The designation covers only extra virgin olive oil extracted from the fruit of Olea europaea L. grown, pressed, and packaged within sixteen named municipalities of Badajoz province, in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, spanning the La Serena, La Siberia, and Campiña Sur regions. Certified oils carry a numbered back label issued by the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen 'Aceite Monterrubio', which maintains registers of olive groves and oil presses and conducts the full certification process.
