Cereza del Jerte
Also known as: Picota del Jerte
Cereza del Jerte is a PDO registered under file number PDO-ES-0233, covering fresh table cherries of the species Prunus avium L. grown in the Valle del Jerte, Cáceres, Spain. The designation applies to five local varieties — 'Navalinda', 'Ambrunés', 'Pico Limón Negro', 'Pico Negro' and 'Pico Colorado' — and permits only 'Extra' class fruit. All production steps, including hand harvesting and packaging, must occur within the defined geographical area.
Tasting notes
Extremaduran cherry DOP from Jerte valley (Cáceres), Picota cherry variety predominant — distinctive stem-less black-red cherry. Vibrant deep-red color, juicy firm flesh, sweet-tart flavor with characteristic Picota intensity.

The specification designates these cherries exclusively for fresh consumption as table fruit.
