Granada Mollar de Elche

Granada Mollar de Elche, also registered as Granada de Elche, is a PDO covering fresh pomegranates of the Mollar de Elche variety (Punica granatum L.), produced within the Elche palm-grove zone of Alicante, Spain. Registered under file number PDO-ES-01230, EU protection was granted on 19 May 2014. The specification requires a minimum of 14 °Brix and a pH between 3.30 and 4.40, with fruit weighing no less than 125 g.

Tasting notes

Valencian pomegranate DOP from Elche, distinctive Mollar variety (soft seeds, sweet juicy flesh). Bright deep-red interior, tender soft seeds (very different from hard-seed varieties), intensely sweet-tart flavor.

HoReCa use

Fresh fruit service; in salads with goat cheese; pomegranate-juice-based dishes; **easy-to-eat soft-seed variety** (premium dining advantage).
