Fraises du Périgord

Fraise du Périgord is a PGI-protected fresh strawberry produced in the Périgord region of France, registered under file number PGI-FR-0133 and granted EU protection on 26 April 2003. The specification requires outdoor cultivation on earth mounds under tunnels, hand harvesting into sales units of no more than 10 kg, and a minimum sugar content verified by variety and period before approval is granted.

Tasting notes

Périgord strawberry IGP, multiple traditional varieties (Mara des Bois, Charlotte, Gariguette). Bright red fruit, intensely fragrant sweet-tart flavor with characteristic floral notes.

HoReCa use

Premium dessert fruit, in fraisier (French strawberry cake), tarte aux fraises, mille-feuille; with Crème de Bresse or Isigny crème.
