Pomme du Limousin

Pomme du Limousin is a fresh apple registered as a PDO under file number PDO-FR-0442, with EU protection dating from 26 August 2006 (eAmbrosia: EUGI00000013678). The designation covers apples of the Golden Delicious variety or authorised mutants, excluding Cala golden, produced entirely within the defined geographical area in France. Minimum size is 65 mm or 115 g, with a refractive index of at least 12,5 % Brix.

Tasting notes

Limousin apple AOP, predominantly Golden Delicious from high-altitude orchards (Limousin terroir). Characteristic golden-yellow color with red blush, crisp tender white flesh, distinctively balanced sweet-tart flavor — France's only AOP apple.

HoReCa use

Premium dessert apple for tarte tatin, tarte normande, fruit plates; with Auvergne-Limousin cheese course; juice and cider production.
