Arancia del Gargano

Also known as: Arancia bionda del Gargano, Duretta del Gargano

Arancia del Gargano is a fresh orange registered as a PGI under file number PGI-IT-0296, with EU protection granted on 26 October 2006. The designation covers two ecotypes — Biondo Comune del Gargano and Duretta del Gargano — grown and packed in the municipalities of Vico del Gargano, Ischitella, and Rodi Garganico on the northern Gargano promontory, province of Foggia, Apulia. All production steps must occur within that area.

Tasting notes

Apulian orange from Gargano peninsula, two varieties (Bionda Comune, Duretta del Gargano). Bright orange skin, juicy fragrant flesh, balanced sweet-acid flavor with floral notes from sea-influenced microclimate.

HoReCa use

The specification provides that fruit may be placed on the market fresh or, for certain size grades, directed exclusively to processing.
