Ciliegia di Lari
Also known as: Marca di Lari
Ciliegia di Lari is a PGI registered under file number PGI-IT-02855, granted EU protection on 30 June 2022, covering fresh sweet cherries (Prunus avium L.) grown in the Lari area of Tuscany, Italy. The designation applies to a defined list of varieties with skins ranging in colour from yellow to dark red to black, and requires a minimum Brix degree of 14° and a minimum fruit size of 20 mm for fresh consumption.
Tasting notes
Tuscan cherry from Lari (Pisa province), traditional "Marca di Lari" variety. Distinctive deep-red color, firm crisp flesh, balanced sweet-acid with intense aromatic profile.
HoReCa use
Fruit meeting the specification may be sold fresh to consumers or, under separate conditions, supplied for processing, in which case size restrictions and the requirement for stalks do not apply.
