Ciliegia di Marostica
Ciliegia di Marostica is a fresh cherry registered as a PGI (file number PGI-IT-0146) and protected under EU law since 18 April 2001. The designation covers cherries of specified varieties grown and harvested by hand across nine municipalities in the province of Vicenza, Veneto. Fruit marketed fresh must be intact, stalked, and at least 23 mm in diameter.
Tasting notes
Veneto cherry from Marostica (Vicenza province), Sandra and other local varieties. Bright red, firm sweet flesh, balanced acid, classic table cherry.
HoReCa use
The specification distinguishes fruit marketed for fresh consumption from fruit destined for industrial processing, such as use in confectionery, which may be smaller, partly intact, and without stalk.
