The designation covers four permitted varieties — Red Delicious, Gala, Fuji, and Braeburn — and their clones, grown within the Cuneo production area of Piedmont, Italy. Each variety must meet defined minimum size, sugar content, flesh firmness, and red skin coverage requirements.
