Melannurca Campana

Melannurca Campana is a PGI registered under file number PGI-IT-0193, granted EU protection on 7 June 2005. It covers fresh Annurca apples, including the variety 'Rossa del Sud', produced in Campania and ripened on ground beds known as melai. The designation is administered by IS.ME.CERT. and labelled with a stylised apple logo against a white background.

Tasting notes

Campanian apple "Annurca" — small reddish bicolor fruit, distinctive low-tree variety, traditional sun-ripening on straw beds ("melai"). Crisp white flesh, intensely fragrant, sweet-acid balanced flavor with wine-like notes.

HoReCa use

The specification provides for processed and derived products made exclusively from Melannurca Campana PGI fruit, provided the weight relationship between the protected fruit used and the derived product is stated on packaging.
