Pesca di Leonforte
Also known as: Leonforte peach, Pesca tardiva di Leonforte
Pesca di Leonforte is an Italian PGI registered on 3 October 2007 (file PGI-IT-0651) covering late-ripening peaches grown from two local ecotypes, Bianco di Leonforte and Giallone di Leonforte, in the Province of Enna, Sicily. Each fruit is individually bagged on the branch to protect against pests. Flesh firmness, soluble solids content between 11 and 13 degrees Brix, and fruit weight between 100 and 350 g are specified at release.
Tasting notes
Sicilian peach from Leonforte (Enna province), distinctive bag-protected variety harvested in autumn (later than typical Italian peach). White or yellow flesh, very juicy, sweet flavor, harvested when most peaches are out of season.
HoReCa use
Premium fresh fruit, in autumn desserts, granita, sorbet, paired with Sicilian sweet wines.
