Anona da Madeira
Also known as: Madeira cherimoya
'Anona da Madeira' is a PDO-protected fresh cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) from the island of Madeira, Portugal, registered under file number PDO-PT-0082 and granted EU protection on 12 August 1999. The designation covers fruit of diverse local varieties, typically cordate in shape, with pale green to bronze-green skin, white pulp, and a Brix value between 17,5 and 21. Fruit weight ranges from 100 g to 2 kg. Production and packaging must occur on the island of Madeira.
Tasting notes
Madeiran cherimoya DOP from native island cultivation. Distinctive green scaly fruit with white creamy custardy flesh, sweet floral-tropical flavor reminiscent of banana-pineapple-vanilla.
HoReCa use
Premium dessert tropical fruit; in Madeiran sobremesa service; with sweet wines.
